Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Overcast/rain :( Max Speed: Distance Covered:
I'd blagged this monday morning off work on the strength of the forecast at
the end of last week which had started calling for possible cross-shore,
big swell and sunshine. Well two out of three ain't bad, but the persistant
long squalls and showers that messed up the wind made for a very
frustrating session. It was a case of get on the water quick between the
showers but once there conditions for Shoreham were actually pretty good
(relatively speaking...). The swell from yesterday had persisted, resulting
in some fair sized ramps that with the much more cross-shore wind than
yesterday were very rideable. Amazingly for Shoreham,
proper-powered-up-all-the-way-round-frontside-turning-on-a-small-trad was
actually possible today, and highlight of the sesssion was a particularly
good dtl bottom-and-top on one half-decent boom-higher that shaped up
nicely for me.
Sail size: a lull after a shower when I arrived meant I started off on the
5.2 which soon became way too big. So changed to the 4.5 with the crap
downhauled out of it which left me still maxed out but reasonably in
control.
So, good waves, but all in all not a great session due to the lack of time
I actually spent on the water thanks to the squalls/showers. Frustratingly
the sun was just starting to come out as I was leaving at 1pm to go back to
work...
